Windsor
September 2020
I’ve always been a tinsy bit obsessed with the Royals. A healthy adoration you could call it. The history of the monarchy, the fashion, the lifestyle, I find all of it so fascinating and lavish, and I know I’m not alone. Literally billions of people tuned in to watch the recent royal weddings, and they did not disappoint by any means. The royals know how to do classic and timeless, and that is always a look to strive towards.

When I think of elegance, I envision Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, Megan Markle and saving the best for last, her majesty the Queen. Always dignified, ever poised, the royal women are and were the definition of posh. And what better inspiration for my craft than to make a collection of flowers befitting the triumphant Windsor Castle, the Queen’s retreat. An ode to the monarchy, if you will.
Our Windsor bouquet is a quintessentially english combination of flowers, with a tailored and traditional look. Think one of Kate Middleton’s fabulous suits. A breath of fresh air, the colours are soft and feminine with powdered pink larkspurs and blush garden roses, paired with crisp white hydrangeas and silvery baby blue Eucalyptus, which screams high tea. Except of course, the royals would never scream. I guess It’s more of a confident yet gentle wave with an accompanying nod towards a bountiful shape of spring pastels and served ……with cucumber sandwiches!

All tea talk aside, after moving from Canada to the UK and slowly finding place in this breath-taking country, despite being met with its challenges at times, has definitely been so fulfilling. I know and feel that even though it seems we are going through some difficult times collectively, It is essential to remember and appreciate what England stands for, and where we come from. Sometimes it’s important to hold onto traditions and comforts that we’ve always known, and there is a safety in knowing that no matter what the scenario, the Queen will always remain sophisticated and steadfast. I know trying to emulate that character can feel next to impossible at times, and so instead I will honor the royals, and their exquisite taste through my craft. One refined bunch at a time.
